Soft Tissue Augmentation (Graft)
At Dentalcare Plus London & South East, we perform the Soft Tissue Augmentation procedure in house.
The correct contour of the crowns on natural teeth or implants is given by a correct emergence profile of the crowns coming through the gum. Sometimes, if the right amount of bone is present but the soft tissue volume is insufficient, a soft tissue augmentation (connective tissue or a free gingival graft) is performed, where tissue is harvested mainly from the palate.
A soft tissue graft is performed to prevent or correct recessions or to enhance the soft tissue volume in an implant site, thereby maximizing the aesthetic outcome of the final restoration or natural teeth.
