Sinus Lift

At Dentalcare Plus London & South East, we perform the Sinus lift Osteotome (Summer's Technique) procedure and the the Sinus lift Lateral Window Method in house.

Sinus Lift Osteotome (Summer's Technique)

During a lifetime a pneumatisation of the maxillary sinus (enlargement of the sinus) occurs as well as fisiological bone resorption (loss). This can often lead to insufficient bone height in the posterior area of the maxilla (upper) arch. This area is a key implant-related site.

When there is insufficient bone height to place the implant, but enough bone height to give primary stability in isolated sites a Sinus Lift (osteotome method) is performed, in which the Schneiderian membrane is elevated with help of osteotomes and bone graft material is placed in the osteotomy site, along with the implant.

This procedure is available upon case selection and prescription on treatment plan, once an oral assessment and appropriate diagnostic examinations are taken.

Sinus Lift Lateral Window Method

During a lifetime a pneumatisation of the maxillary sinus (enlargement of the sinus) occurs as well as fisiological bone resorption (loss). This can often lead to insufficient bone height in the posterior area of the maxilla (upper) arch. This area is a key implant-related site.

In order to have enough bone height to place implants of a sufficient size, a maxillary sinus lift (lateral window method) needs to be performed. This is a surgical procedure in which bone grafting material is placed on the floor of the maxillary sinus, beneath the Scheiderian membrane (that covers the inside of the maxillary sinus). On occasions, when there is sufficient residual bone, implants can be placed simultaneously.
