Hygiene Therapy
In the past, dental hygiene or hygiene therapy has traditionally been known as scaling and polishing. The hygienist plays a very important role in treating gum disease.
At the Dentalcareplus London & South East Implant Centres, we take dental hygiene therapy to another level. Our treatment includes an initial assessment to examine for gingivitis, periodontitis (and for patients with implants, peri-implantitis) to assess the health of your teeth and gums. This includes a gum health check using probing and periodontal charting, providing a baseline that is assessed over time.
Importantly, we also provide the patient invaluable advice and demonstrate the best way to keep the teeth free of plaque and tartar.
This assessment will also reveal gum disease (gingivitis, periodontitis), receding gums, exposed roots, tooth grinding (bruxism) and other problems.
Following this initial assessment and advice, we use a sophisticated de-scaling & air polishing system to professionally clean the teeth for the patient, sometimes over several appointments.
We perform dental hygiene therapy for both our dental implant patients and non dental implant patients.
