Implant Consultation & Treatment Plan
Clinical Dental Implant Assessment / Consultation
The first appointment for our patients is the clinical dental implant assessment / consultation.
We start of by taking a medical history in our comfortable reception area; this is required to enable us to provide you with the best possible dental care. You are then introduced to your experienced implant dentist. Your medical history is reviewed in consideration of dental implant treatment and a thorough oral assessment is taken in which we perform detailed diagnostics and charting.
If you are a good candidate for dental implant treatment, a CT Scan and possibly a panoramic X-Ray is taken. We take 3D CT scans for pre-operative planning to measure bone density, determine the bone condition and ascertain the position of anatomical structures and position of the inferior alveolar nerve. The requirement for bone grafting is usually determined during the clinical assessment. Working from a 2D X-ray alone increases the likelihood that certain issues are not seen soon enough, increasing the possibility of treatment plan changes.
From the oral examination, CT Scans/X-Rays and taking into account both your wishes and what is clinically possible, the implant dentist will take you through the recommended treatment plan option(s).
Immediately following your dental implant assessment / consultation, the treatment plan option(s) are costed up by an implant coordinator, who you have a short meeting with to discuss the treatment, the costs, and questions/concerns and your availability to start treatment.
Diagnostic Report & Treatment Plan
A comprehensive formal Diagnostic Report & Treatment Plan is then created for you, which contains a covering letting from your implant dentist, charting, treatment plan option(s) and costs, critical notes, dental implant and restoration guarantees and other useful information.
